About Us
Seattle Design Build LLC is a design-build firm with offices located in Seattle and projects located from Snohomish to Spanaway, and as far away as Sequim. We specialize in whole house remodels, additions, kitchen and bathroom renovations, as well as beautifully crafted custom sunrooms and conservatories. Unlike most other remodeling companies, we have an in-house design department, who will take a project from the conceptual stages through the permit drawings and beyond. They will complete all the necessary research on a home, from setback requirements to structural issues and will work with the appropriate jurisdiction for the clients’ permitting needs. We are fortunate to have had many of our talented craftsman as field staff for over 10 years, as Seattle Design Build is a company that promotes fair treatment, wages, and benefits, as well as personal growth among their employees.
Seattle Design Build was an offshoot of Seattle Sun Systems, Inc. which had been a nationally recognized sunroom manufacturer since the 1980’s. Having started her career in construction as marketing director, Carolyn Boardman moved to the position of general manager and CFO. With her characteristically entrepreneurial spirit, she convinced the former owner of Seattle Sun to start a construction division in the mid 1990’s. She set about hiring a few crews to install sunrooms, and found that the homeowners wanted the craftsmen to stay on and remodel their kitchens and bathrooms! The construction division grew by leaps and bounds until 2004 when Carolyn, now sole company owner, decided to form a new company in order to differentiate the manufacturing from the design-build. Thus was born Seattle Design Build LLC. In the formation of the new entity, a legal partnership grew out of the great working relationship that Carolyn had experienced with Roger Conen, the construction manager that had been hired in 1996! As a certified CGR (Certified Graduate Remodeler), Roger’s knowledge of construction and business practices has made him a highly respected figure in the remodeling industry. Together, Roger and Carolyn have worked to build the company what it is today, one of the leading design-build firms in the Pacific Northwest.
